Have you heard about Subscribe to Open?

Subscribe-to-Open is an open access publishing model that enables subscription journals to become open access on an annual basis, depending on continued financial support from subscribing libraries and institutions. If sufficient subscriptions are renewed in a given year, the content published in that year is made freely available to all readers and authors, without APCs, and remains open permanently. If support is insufficient, that year’s content remains behind a paywall. S2O builds on existing subscription systems and is designed as a sustainable and equitable pathway to open access that does not shift costs onto individual authors. A growing number of journals are adopting this model, including the Royal Society’s subscription journals and pilots from other publishers like SAGE and the American Society for Microbiology.
