This document contains the fsleyes release history in reverse
chronological order.
1.16.3 (Friday 21st November 2025)

1.16.2 (Friday 10th October 2025)
Changed
Minor updates to the documentation (!486).
1.16.1 (Wednesday 10th September 2025)
Fixed
Fixes to API and user documentation generation (!484).
1.16.0 (Tuesday 9th September 2025)
Added
The width of line vectors can now be modulated by another image. This is achieved by setting the Modulation mode to Line width, and on the command-line via
--modulateMode lineWidth(!479).
Changed
The
FSLeyesFrame.addViewPanel()method now allows the caller to specify the location (top/bottom/left/right) and proportional size of newly added views (!478).
Fixed
FSLeyes can now load tractogram (
.trk/.tck) files which contain “degenerate” streamlines that only have one vertex (!477).Avoid a (harmless) error being printed when a tractogram overlay is selected, and the user shift+clicks on a 3D view (which would select the nearest vertex/voxel when an image/mesh overlay is selected) (!477).
Fixed a bug where opening a new view would cause Tools menu items from already existing views to break (!480).
1.15.0 (Thursday 29th May 2025)
Added
New Prefiltered spline interpolation option for volume interpolation (
-in true_splineon the command-line), which applies a pre-filter to image data. This results in less smooth interpolation, but which is equal to the underlying image data at voxel centres (!473).
Changed
The volume Modulate range limits can now be set to values smaller/greater than the minimum/maximum image voxel intensities (!473).
1.14.2 (Wednesday 26th February 2025)
Added
New Slice width option for tractogram overlays (
--sliceWidth/-swon the command-line), which controls the width of the cross-section through the tractogram when drawing 2D slices (!471).
Changed
FEAT
cluster_maskimages are now shown as mask outlines when the--autoDisplayflag is used, or when loaded from the FEAT cluster panel (!471).Plot panels will now use a solid line style by default for all overlays, rather than cycling through all possible line styles. The default line colour scheme has also been expanded and improved (!471).
1.14.1 (Monday 24th February 2025)
Fixed
Fixed some errors which could occur when adding/removing overlays (!469).
1.14.0 (Monday 24th February 2025)
Added
Improved support for tractograms (TrackVis
.trkand Mrtrix3.tckfiles). Tractograms can now be associated with a reference image, and so will be re-positioned as needed with changes to the display space (!466).New Pseudo-3D option for tractograms (
--pseudo3Don the command-line), which causes it to be displayed in 3D in the ortho and lightbox views. When using this option, the tractogram can be clipped above, below, or near the currently displayed slice (!466).
Changed
Alpha modulation settings (e.g. Modulate alpha by intensity) are now applied to the colour bar if it is displayed (!464).
The
--autoDisplay/-adcommand-line option will now enable alpha-modulation on FEAT statistic images (e.g.stats/zstat1.nii.gzetc) and MELODIC ICA images (melodic_IC.nii.gz) (!464, !467).
Fixed
The melodic_IC file should now be selected by default when using Melodic mode in conjunction with
--autoDisplay(e.g.fsleyes -smelodic -ad ..) (!465).Fixed an issue with tractogram overlay vertices being clipped when the Colour by option weas set, but Clip by was set to None (!466).
1.13.0 (Thursday 14th November 2024)
Added
The length of line vectors can now be modulated by another image. This is achieved by setting the Modulation mode to Line length, and on the command-line via
--modulateMode lineLength(!461).The colour/brightness and line vector length can now be normalised independently for line vector and RGB vector overlays. Colour and vector magnitude were previously both normalised by the Scale vectors to unit length option - this option now normalises vector magnitude/length, and the new Normalise RGB brightness option normalises the vector colours to uniform brightness. This option is available on the command-line via the
--normaliseColour/-nrflag (!461).
Fixed
Fixed an issue with the zoom level changing when adding new overlays. As part of this change, the logic controlling the display space has been adjusted so that, when the current reference image is removed, the display space will be changed to another loaded image instead of being reset to
"world"(!460).Fixed an issue which could cause occasional (harmless) errors to be emitted, where a texture object was being destroyed before its data was (asynchronously) generated (!461).
Fixed an issue where changing some line vector settings would have no effect. This was only occurring under OpenGL 1.4 (!461).
1.12.6 (Friday 4th October 2024)
Fixed
Fixed the top-level application menu title on macOS (!457).
1.12.5 (Monday 30th September 2024)

1.10.3 (Thursday 29th February 2024)
Added
New
-u/--ungroupOverlayscommand-line option, which causes all overlays to be unlinked by default (via the overlay list chain-link
button). This has the effect that properties such as
interpolation, which are normally linked across all overlays, can be set
independently for each overlay (!422).

--sliceOverlapand--reverseSlicesflags (!379).FSLeyes plugin libraries can now provide custom layouts (!386).
